Pulling My Hair Out...

Yesterday was not a fun "mommy day." Brady cried almost ALL day (gas). I spent most of the day sitting and holding him in an attempt to comfort him. I'd no sooner get him settled and laid down, and he'd start screaming again. The poor little guy didn't sleep for longer than 15 minutes before waking up crying again. Mylicon drops didn't do much, and neither did walking, rocking, singing, rubbing his tummy, or running the fan in the bathroom (which usually does the trick). He's not a colicky baby, but yesterday was a rough day for the poor lil guy. I felt so bad for him (and so helpless), but by the end of the day, my back, neck, and arms ached, my head was pounding, my nerves were shot, and I was totally exhausted! The upside is: both of us slept like corpses last night!!! Brady "clocked in" another 8 hours between feedings, and then slept until 10am after his 4:00 feeding.

In other news - we're excited about the Super Bowl this weekend. We're a huge football family (my hubby and 2 of our boys play), so Super Bowl Sunday is an exciting day for us. We're rooting for the Cardinals...it'd be nice to see the underdogs win!

Have a good weekend!

New Milestone...

Brady went 8 hours last night between feedings (8pm to 4am)! Prior to last night, he had been going anywhere from 4-6 hours, which is great...but last night was definitely a pleasant & welcome surprise! Unfortunately, I didn't get to bed until midnight so I STILL only got 4 hours of sleep (the joys of motherhood)! Fortunately, there's a wonderful little thing called coffee...and I'm working on my 2nd cup as we speak! Cheers!

Is it just me???

Just a few things that are really bugging me:

  • President Obama tells Americans that it's time for change and that everyone must tighten their belts, but then spends $150 MILLON on his inauguration.
  • A couple in Florida spends $150,000 to have their pet cloned.
  • Wall Street handed out million-dollar+ bonuses to their employees with some of the bail-out money they were given.
  • Merrill Lynch CEO John Thain spends 1.2 MILLION to redecorate his office.

With so many people unemployed and struggling, this irresponsible spending really disgusts me...especially when you read about people like Marvin Schur. Mr. Schur is the 93-yr. old WWII vet who froze to death INSIDE HIS HOME because the Michigan power company restricted his use of electricity due to unpaid bills. SOOOO heartbreaking (and unnecessary)! http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/capress/090126/world/frozen_indoors

Back To Square One...

After 11 years, I'm a new mother again!! At 39 years old, starting over is quite the challenge...but I'm enjoying every (tiring) moment of it. Our 4th child, Brady Alexander, was born 12/31/08. He was 3 weeks early and weighed only 5 lbs/2 oz, but has continued to thrive since. He's now over 7 lbs. and is changing daily.

Having a newborn in the house again has been an adjustment. I had forgotten how much work it can be! Sometimes it's noon before I even have a chance to get dressed! I don't know how mothers of multiples do it!!! Fortunately, my 11-yr. old son Dylan has been a HUGE help. Formerly the "baby" of the family, he has stepped into the role of big brother with enthusiasm & excitement. He loves holding Brady and has been a great "extra set of hands" when I'm trying to cook dinner, fold laundry, etc. Brady is very comfortable in his arms, and the two of them are becoming fast friends.
